Dennis Black has over 30 years of experience in the medical device industry and has worked in a variety of roles and functions. He joined BD in 1998 and currently works within the Global Regulatory team as the UDI Program Director. Dennis is currently focused on implementing Unique Device Identification (UDI) regulations globally. This responsibility includes ensuring that the BD product identification strategy meets healthcare provider needs and internal supply chain requirements while complying with all applicable regulations. Dennis presently serves on the GS1 Healthcare Global Leadership Team; the GS1 US Executive Leadership Committee; and the Strategic MarketPlace Initiatives (SMI) Board of Directors, where he is also Treasurer. He also collaborates with various industry work groups within AdvaMed, MedTech Europe, Global Healthcare Exchange (GHX), and the Association for Healthcare Resource & Materials Management (AHRMM) to solve multiple healthcare challenges.

Pascal Verdonck was born in 1963 in Gent, Belgium. He graduated with a Master of Science in Civil Engineering in 1986 from Ghent University and obtained a Master of Business Administration (1989), a Master of Science Biomedical Engineering (1993) and a PhD (1993). Since 1987, he has multiplied experiences in Engineering, Sciences and Medicine. His scientific research has spanned numerous fields of biomedical engineering sciences: experimental and numerical modeling of the cardiovascular system, haemodynamics and transport phenomena in extracorporeal circulation and artificial organs, computational bio design and medical device technology. He has led private and public hospital groups for 20 years. He is an active advisor for the MedTech Start & Scale-up Ecosystem and is now leading university courses on “leadership in healthcare” and “engineering project in hospitals” at Ghent University in Belgium.
